Meet the Dogs
Rosie
Breed: Parson Russell Terrier
Age: 6
Hobbies and personality: Loves chasing squirrels, gentle personality, very motivated by treats
Rosie was adopted from Russell Rescue and is a registered therapy dog, a professional greeting card model, and aspiring movie star! She recently stole the show when she was cast in a short film, playing the beloved dog of a nursing home resident.
When Rosie isn’t bringing smiles to the faces of hospital, nursing home, and hospice patients through her work for Pet Partners, Rosie is a superstar athlete. She’s earned awards in a variety of canine sporting events like Barn Hunt and Fast CAT, a 100 yard dash for dogs. In fact, Rosie was ranked the 6th-fastest Parson Russell terrier in 2024 at the Fast CAT race, sprinting at an impressive 24.89 mph!
Indy 500
Breed: Terrier blend
Age: 6
Hobbies and personality: Loves playing with toys and dog friends
Just like Rosie, Indy 500 is a rescue dog, registered Pet Partners therapy dog, and a professional model. Indy is a super cuddler and lap dog, always soaking up affection and enjoying social activities.
Indy is also a super athlete, with awards in the Fast CAT 100-yard dash, clocking in a fastest time of 24.48 mph! Recently, Indy has also taken up Barn Hunt, earning a Novice Barn Hunt title and adding yet another skill to a growing list.
Moose
Breed: Russell Terrier
Age: 4
Hobbies and personality: Swimming, chasing squirrels, playing fetch
Moose’s motto is “Dream big, and have adventures every day!” Like his siblings, Moose was adopted from Russell Rescue, is a registered Pet Partners therapy dog, and a professional model. He is very loving and kissy and loves being the center of attention.
Moose is fearless and is very comfortable both in the water and in the dark. He has junior titles in both Dock Diving and Earthdog (a sport that involves digging through tunnels for rodents), and he’s also a master Barn Hunter.
CJ (the “Chaffeur”)
CJ, pet parent to Rosie, Indy, and Moose, has over 15 years experience as a trainer, volunteer therapy dog handler, and therapy animal evaluator. CJ humbly gives all the credit to her dogs for the incredible work they do. “If they could drive, they wouldn’t need me,” she jokes. “I’m just the chauffeur and there to hold the leash.”
Helping Paws: Therapy Dogs at Work
Rosie, Indy, and Moose are all registered therapy dogs through Pet Partners, an internationally recognized animal therapy organization. CJ is proud of the dedication they show: “We are very committed to making a difference through the therapy work, the dogs volunteer many hours every month.”
These pups bring comfort and joy to people who need it most. They visit hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices, offering companionship and relief to patients, families, and even hospital staff. Rosie, Indy, and Moose are also part of a crisis response team, ready to step in during local emergencies. Their therapy work even extends to universities, where they help college students de-stress during exam weeks.
At the beginning of each therapy visit, CJ gives out 2.5’’ x 3.5’’ trading cards of the dogs. Each card showcases a custom dog portrait from PugMug on the front and fun facts about each of the dogs on the back. The cards serve as both a nice memento of dog's visits and a conversation starter.
As CJ lovingly notes, “My dogs make people smile, make people feel better, and bring positive energy everywhere they go. Four paws on a mission to make a difference.”
CJ and her terriers also visit local schools, where they participate in an after-school reading program for kids. Using PugMug’s style packs, CJ made unique custom portraits for each of her dogs and turned them into three stunning art books:
- Rosie features water-themed and artistic-themed dog portraits from PugMug and follows Rosie through stunning scenes, from Van Gogh’s Starry Night to a summer pool party.
- Indy 500: What Will I Be imagines Indy in a variety of dream careers, from librarian to professional surfer, using PugMug’s Careers art styles.
- The Adventures of Mulligan Moose takes Moose on wild fantasy adventures - from the throne, to outer space, to becoming a Jedi! It features Fantasy-themed custom portraits of Moose.
CJ couldn’t be prouder of how far her dogs have come. “I'm very proud of their achievements and thrilled with how loving they are, not knowing how their lives started,” she reflects. “They are happy and excited everyday, with mottos of "Never give up, just keep digging", "Play hard, nap often", and "Fill everyday with fun".
Here at PugMug, we’re deeply touched to see our custom pet portraits making such a positive impact in this wonderful community and in the lives of these three incredible terriers.
